MOD Audio

MOD Audio LV2 Extensions

This site hosts the specifications for the LV2 extension namespaces defined by MOD Audio. They are open, ISC licensed and free to use in any plugin. These extensions complement the standard LV2 core vocabulary and are used by plugin developers targeting MOD-powered platforms (MOD Duo, MOD Duo X, MOD Dwarf, MOD Desktop).

Core Namespaces

The base vocabulary. Every plugin or pedalboard file targeting a MOD platform builds against one or more of these — permanent, and never repurposed once published.

Prefix Canonical URI Spec Used by
mod: http://moddevices.com/ns/mod# View spec Plugin developers — brand, label, port overrides, CV ports
modgui: http://moddevices.com/ns/modgui# View spec Plugin developers — custom HTML/CSS GUI for the pedalboard canvas
modpedal: http://moddevices.com/ns/modpedal# View spec Tool authors — pedalboard bundle format (written by mod-ui, not by plugin developers)

Extension Namespaces (ns/ext/*)

Discrete, optional features that aren't part of the core vocabulary — each one published under its own ns/ext/<feature> path once adopted. A plugin or platform only needs to know about the extensions it actually uses.

Prefix Canonical URI Spec Used by
mod:license http://moddevices.com/ns/ext/license# View spec Plugin developers — copy-protection and trial mode protocol
hmi: http://moddevices.com/ns/hmi# View spec Plugin developers — drive the hardware display and LEDs for an addressed parameter (MOD devices only). Its URI predates the ns/ext/ convention and stays where shipped plugins expect it.

How vocabulary is added

Three tiers, by who may write a term into files that live on users' devices:

The gate is on writing: a change that only reads new terms is accepted on normal review; a change that writes a new term into pedalboard files needs the term published on this site first, with the pedalboard format version bumped. See CONTRIBUTING.md in mod-ui.

Developing plugins for MOD

See the MOD Plugin SDK for building, validating and installing plugins, metadata, custom GUIs (modgui) and known caveats.
